“It was the worst Mother’s Day ever, this time last year I was in Lanzarote,” quipped Michelle Purcell.

“I can’t see my kids or my family. Food gets dropped to the door. I am due to go back to work on April 4, but I haven’t even received my test (for Covid-19).”

Michelle is self-isolating on HSE guidelines. Through her work she was in close contact with an elderly client, whose partner was diagnosed Covid-19 virus.

She continued: “I feel ok, don’t have the symptoms they require now for the test, but what if I do have it? My doctor told me to ring him by Thursday.

There was days where I was exhausted and living on Solpodene. The stress is causing me more strain.”

Luckily for Michelle, her youngest son Kian (13) was able to stay with his father and her eldest Jonathan (27), is staying with his girlfriend.

She has kept busy at an old hobby - writing poetry.

“I used to write for friends and clients, and read it at Mass. I always had poetry in me.

“But I am nervous about going back into the community. My jobs has rostered me back in for Sunday, so I will go back in and hope for the best.”
