Study to help women quit smoking

Trinity College Dublin together with the Irish Cancer Society and the HSE, are inviting women from the Ballyfermot, Chapelizod and Cherry Orchard areas to take part in a new community based study to help women quit smoking.

The aim of the study is to figure out the best way to support women to stop smoking by comparing two different programmes; a community stop smoking programme, which is specifically designed for women, and a HSE stop smoking service.

The study is looking for 60 women, aged over 18, who currently smoke, to sign up and take part in this innovative new research study.

Each participant will be allocated to one of the two programmes, both of which will start in mid-February.
