Witnesses saw car abandoned and set on fire

The GARDAI are investigating after a car was found abandoned and partially burnt out on the Naas Road in Bluebell.

Witnesses reported the bizarre sight of a car pulling up on the kerb at the busy main road at about 3pm on Friday, July 13, and a young male getting out of the car and attempting to set it alight before taking off in a waiting van.

“There was a young guy, in his early 20s, and he just pulled up on the kerb.

"He got out of the car and started pouring petrol over the car, then ran across the road to a waiting van, which drove in the direction towards Naas Road towards Kylemore/Clondalkin.”

A garda spokesperson said: “A car was found abandoned and partially burnt out near the Naas Road, on July 13, at approximately 6.15pm. Investigations are ongoing.”
