People delighted to participate and start off year at Nationwide Walks

CORKAGH Park played host to the first leg of the Nationwide Operation Transformation walks last Saturday.

Approximately 300 people of all ages took part in the walk which took in a 5km loop of this wonderful scenic park.

Organising the walk was South Dublin County Sports Partnership and its Coordinator Thos McDermott was delighted with the warm reaction from the participants to the walk.

He said: “This is the start to our annual Operation Transformation programme and the feedback we get every year, regardless of the venue, is that people are delighted to participate and start off their year on a healthy note.”

The Sports Partnership will be providing a leader again over the next few weeks on Saturday mornings at 11am to continue to offer the free walk to interested parties and will also be supporting a number of clubs, schools and community groups who are putting public Operation transformation programmes in place.

There is aslo a number of Operation Transformation organised events throughout the county in St Anne’s GAA Club, Thomas Davis GAA Club, Round Tower GAA Club, Clondalkin Rugby Club and in the Lucan area.

Ballyfermot will also have an operation transformation walk which takes place starting at the Assumption Church from 7pm every Monday and Wednesday.
