Talented young artist invited back to school for project

By Maurice Garvey

TALENTED artist Chloe Mullins made global headlines last month after presenting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a portrait of the couple.

However, she moved quickly onto a new project and her alma mater Coláiste Bríde was the recipient of her latest masterpiece, a striking mural of a lion in the school hall.

Originally from Clondalkin, and now living in Kill, Chloe did her Leaving Cert at the school in 2017.

She spent last year at the Redemption Christian Academy in Massachusetts on a basketball scholarship, and created another mural of a lion – the college mascot – at the campus.

This caught the eye of Coláiste Bríde Principal Marie-Thérèse Kilmartin, and Chloe was invited back to add a dash of colour to the New Road school.

Chloe said she was excited to have an “opportunity to leave behind something cool in the gym”.

“It is a lion because of the local basketball club that plays there, Dublin Lions. This was my first club and I’m still heavily involved in the club even though I’ve since moved to another.

"My brother plays with them and I still coach camps there when I can.

“I started on Monday and it took about four days (25 hours) total, using normal masonry paint so that it will stick around forever!”

The beginning of the lion mural

The clip of Chloe and her mother Georgia presenting the royals with the portrait last month went viral, and was featured on multiple news sites abroad.

Chloe has another celebrity in her sights, having created a portrait of Conor McGregor and hopes to present it to him at some stage.

That may have to be kept on ice for the moment, as she has taken her talents to Hawaii Pacific University on August 11 on another basketball scholarship.
