By Aideen O'Flaherty

THE CLONDALKIN St Patrick's Day Parade will paint the town green this March with the help of a number of local groups and volunteers, reports Aideen O'Flaherty.

The third annual parade will be Round Tower and Clondalkin Heritage themed, with a number of community groups and local businesses including Greyhound, Masseys, the Brownies, the Girl Guides, Boot Road Celtic, The Men's Shed and Silver Surfers set to take part in the parade.

Cllr Francis Timmons Mary Kennedy and Mary Dardis

Independent Councillor, and chairman and of the parade, Francis Timmons said: "I am delighted that the parade is back in the village.

"This will be our third parade after many years and the crowds from last year show the demand for local community events.
"This is our chance to showcase the best of Clondalkin and I call on all community groups and clubs to get on board and make this parade one to remember."

Cllr Timmons added: "I have great memories of taking part in the parade in the 80s and we need to create great memories for the upcoming generations."

The parade will pass through Clondalkin Village at 2.30pm on March 17th, however volunteers are needed to erect barriers and supervise routes on the day.

Those interested in volunteering can apply online, on the Clondalkin St Patrick's Festival website at www.clondalkinstpatricksfestival.ie/volunteer, while businesses and groups who'd like to get involved in the parade are invited to apply at www.clondalkin stpatricksfestival.ie/participate
