Cherry Tree pub looks to use part of existing car park for car sales

By Laura Lyne

A PROPOSAL for the change of use for a portion of the car park belonging to the Cherry Tree public house at Walkinstown Cross has been submitted to South Dublin County Council.

It is for the change of use from its existing car park use to car sales use, and was submitted on behalf of Fairfield Inns Ltd, the owner of the car park and the nearby Cherry Tree pub.

If approved, the proposed development will incorporate the erection of a perimeter fence that includes the 6m clear width access gates off the existing car park.

A 16 sq.m. single storey Portacabin structure is also included within the application, along with appropriate signage for the car sales.

The applicant states that it believes the development would “provide a sustainable commercial use for this site”.

It also states that no washing, valeting, mechanical repair or servicing of motor vehicles would occur on the site, which will be used for the display and sale of cars only.

Third-party submissions on the application will be accepted until November 25, with a decision on the application due by December 16.
