‘Chic and stylish’ gastro bar set to employ 35 staff

By Mary Dennehy

THE Elms Gastro Bar has planted roots in the former Arc Café Bar in Liffey Valley, with the new establishment offering an extensive food menu that kicks off each morning with a hearty breakfast.

The gastro bar, which is open for business, is currently undergoing stylish renovations that management hope will be complete by Christmas.

Employing 35 full and part-time people, The Elms was named by Lucan resident Roisin Ni Ealai after the search for a name went public – with Roisin this week receiving the winning prize of €500.

Speaking with The Echo, management said that renovations will see the unique venue transformed into a “chic and stylish” gastro bar, with an impressive beer garden and all-year-round barbeque facilities.

With a full kitchen team complete with five chefs, The Elms is offering a tasty alternative with its 9am breakfast start that includes a full Irish, porridge, pancakes, a Slimming World breakfast and more.

Carvery and a sandwich bar is served from Monday to Friday between 12pm and 3pm, with an a la carte menu kicking in at 3pm and running until 9pm daily.

Saturday boasts a light lunch menu from 12pm to 5pm followed by a la carte while Sunday is an all-day carvery – with all desserts made on site.

The new management does not plan to re-open the nightclub, with this space being refurbished into a function room for parties or as an event space for local businesses.

Entertainment will be provided over the weekends by live bands in the pub area.

Gerry Crawford is the general manager of The Elms, and also the manager of the Belgard Inn in Tallaght – which he still oversees. He told The Echo that The Elms is very family friendly while also offering a great venue for groups and individuals looking for a good night out, and that the team is looking forward to meeting new customers in the coming months.
