Gardai investigate attack on woman for handbag in Tallaght

Gardai in Tallaght have launched an investigation after an attempt was made to steal a woman’s handbag from her last night in Kingswood.

The terrifying incident happened near Sylvan Avenue at approximately 8:10pm, just after the woman had got off the Luas.

The 18-year-old victim was approached by a man and woman as she was walking to her home – with the woman then attacking her and attempting to take her bag.

The woman is described as being in her 30s or 40s, with long black hair, and wearing a blue jumper/tracksuit top and jeans.

Speaking with this morning the woman’s mother said her daughter is understandably still “quite shook” after the incident.

In a statement released to, a Garda spokesperson said: “We are investigating an incident at Kingswood where an attempt was made to steal a handbag at .8.10pm. 

“The suspected offender is described as a woman in her 30s or 40s, with black hair, wearing a blue jumper and jeans.”
