Green light given for M50 Business Park petrol station

By Aideen O'Flaherty

PLANS for a petrol station in the M50 Business Park on Ballymount Avenue have been given the green light by South Dublin County Council.

The plans were lodged by Petrogas Group Limited, which operates the Applegreen brand, last January containing extensive plans for the planned filling station.

The submission contained plans for the development of a petrol station with a six pump islands and an overhead canopy, a HGV filling island and an ancillary retail and food sales building.

It is proposed that a drive-thru restaurant, a café/deli, a convenience shop, restrooms and ancillary staff and storage areas will form part of the development.

Provisions for associated signage, including two internally lit totem signs, canopy and building mounted signage were included in the application.

It was proposed that parking would be provided by the development of 76 car parking spaces, three HGV parking spaces, two coach parking spaces and 40 bicycle parking spaces.

Plans for vehicular access to be provided from Ballymount Avenue and vehicular egress to the access road to the south east, which serves Fashion City on a site located to the south of Ballymount Avenue and Ballymount Road Upper and to the east of Calmount Road, were included in the application.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development of the filling station last month, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the reduction of the number of parking spaces permitted in the development, from 76 to 60, and the creation of a revised route and signage from the site entrance to the coach parking facilities in order to “prevent potential conflict between coaches and cars in the forecourt area”.
