Plans to extend bicycle and pedestrian facilitates at Red Cow Luas Stop

By Aideen O'Flaherty

PERMISSION is being sought for plans to extend bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and to create a new ‘left in, left out’ junction on the N7 for revised gateway access, for the Red Cow Luas Park and Ride.

Applicant Hibernia Reit Ltd submitted the plans to South Dublin County Council this month, to include the closure of the existing ‘left in, left out’ junction serving the park and ride on the N7, in order to facilitate the development of new internal access roads and a roundabout, with shared access for both cyclists and pedestrians.

Provisions for new relocated bus stop included in plans

The submission outlines details of the proposed development of an extended merge lane of 254 metres, including an extension to a segregation island along the southern side of the N7 Naas Road.

There are provisions for a new relocated bus stop, a revised access arrangement to Gas Networks Ireland for installation, and all associated and ancillary works, including the demolition of the former SDS warehouse building.

A decision on the application is due from the council by April 29.
