THE FAMILY of Kyle Finnegan, a young football fan who tragically died on Friday, have received messages of support and condolences from Steven Gerrard and popular British rapper Bugzy Malone, while Shamrock Rovers Football Club paid tribute to him over the weekend.

Kyle, a 12-year-old boy from Tallaght, died of a suspected asthma attack when he was in his grandmother’s house last week.

The young boy had asthma since he was four-years-old, and even though an inhaler was used he sadly succumbed to the suspected asthma attack.

Kyle was a passionate footballer and football fan, and was a regular sight in the East Stand of Tallaght Stadium, cheering on his beloved Hoops.

He was a popular footballer who had previously played for Kilnamanagh AFC and Jobstown Celtic, and both teams held a minute’s silence in memory of Kyle before they played against each other last weekend.

Kyle was also a big fan of British rapper Bugzy Malone, who posted a video of a rap that he dedicated to Kyle on Instagram on Tuesday, and he invited Kyle’s entire family to come and see him during one of his tour dates where they can “celebrate young Kyle’s life”.

Celebrated Premier League footballer Steven Gerrard also paid tribute to the young boy in a short video, where he offered his condolences to Kyle’s heartbroken family.

Kyle’s funeral was held today, Thursday, September 27, at 11am in the Church of the Incarnation, Fettercairn, followed by burial in Bohernabreena Cemetery.
