Resident slashed with blade during attempted burglary in Tallaght

Gardai in Tallaght are investigating an attempted burglary in Citywest in which the intruder injured a man after he was disturbed trying to gain entry through a back door.

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning, July 30 at a house on Belfry Square in Citywest.

Gardai confirmed to the Echo that they are currently investigating “a burglary (attempt) and an assault” and that “the culprit was disturbed during the incident".

It was also confirmed that the resident “received minor injuries as a result” of the incident.

The victim is believed to have been slashed by the intruder with a blade and received stitches.

No arrests have been made to date, and Gardai have appealed to anyone who was in the area and spotted anything suspicious to contact them on 01-6666000.
