Tallaght teenager named as Wicklow crash victim

Gardai have launched an investigation after a 13-year-old boy died following a road accident in Wicklow yesterday morning.

The teenager has been named locally as Thomas Wall from Greenhills Road in Tallaght.

The boy was injured when the car he was a passenger in collided with a ditch before 6:40am yesterday morning.

Following the collision the driver and the 13-year-old proceeded to walk on the road towards Roundwood from Annamoe before being offered a lift by a passerby.

According the Gardai the injured males condition deteriorated and he died on route to Loughlinstown Hospital.

The male driver of the car, in his 30’s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and appeared before Bray District Court yesterday afternoon where he was released on bail.

Gardai wish to appeal to anyone who travelled this road prior to 6.40am on Saturday morning in either direction and who may have seen the collision or observed or passed the two males walking the road to contact the Gardai at Wicklow on 0404 – 60140, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
