Woman punched in the face a number of times in terrifying attack

A woman was punched in the face a number of times during a terrifying attack on Sunday morning on Stocking Lane in Rathfarnham.

The attack happened at 10:30am yesterday morning while the woman, who is in her 50s, was out walking.

She was approached by a man who assaulted her – leaving the woman with a number of injuries, which she was treated for in Tallaght Hospital.

Amid reports of a similar attack in the area on Saturday, residents took to social media, to voice their concern over the violent attack.

A description of the attacker was also shared. He is said to be in his mid 30s and he was wearing a grey t-shirt and a black baseball cap.

In a statement released to Echo.ie, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai at Rathfarmham are investigating an assault which occurred at Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham Dublin 16 at approximately 10.30am on Sunday June 18th 2017.

“A female in her 50s received a number of injuries after she was assaulted at the above location.

“The injured lady was taken to Tallaght Hospital to be treated for her injuries (minor).

“No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.”
