Chamber leading trade mission to Scotland to assess Brexit

SOUTH Dublin Chamber are leading a trade mission to Scotland in April (3-5) to assess the Brexit landscape for doing business in the UK.

“Business is still there to be done with the UK, just the variables involved in any business arrangement will change as the UK changes its relationship with the EU,” said Peter Byrne, CEO South Dublin Chamber.

He believes the trade mission will provide the “perfect opportunity to see the new conditions for doing business in the UK.”

With the prospect of a no-deal Brexit looming on March 29, Mr Byrne is “strongly encouraging” members to look at how a no-deal, or a variant of this, will impact on their business.

“The Government, both local and national, has resources and information to assist businesses in assessing and addressing the challenges coming forward,” he said.

Chambers Ireland has compiled a number of resources on their website, including Government contingency plans and links to the European Commission’s preparedness notices.

They have also produced a brief overview information sheet on how businesses can prepare for a no-deal, with bullet points on aspects such as customs, tariffs, administration, VAT, cash flow and currency.

South Dublin Chamber’s trade mission to Scotland will take in visits to John Bean Technologies, Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning, and networking events including one at Edinburgh Castle.
