Kicking off this list is Tallaght artist Emmalene Blake, who painted this mural in Belfast as part of the Hit The North campaign to promote love equality.

When Storm Emma hit Ireland in early March,  Eoin O'Shaughnessy faced the elements to catch this awe-inspiring shot of a snowy Clondalkin.

Meanwhile, with the nation at a standstill due to heavy snowfall, Jack and Peter McNamara from Terenure had no transport trouble as their huskies Mishka and Nala brought them where they needed to go.

Of course, people all across the county love a good chipper, and Macari's in Tallaght Village proved why when they were voted Ireland's Best Chipper at JustEat.ie's National Takeaway Awards in October.

Opened by Rocco and Patsy Macari 50 years ago, their son Francesco is now at the helm.

Spirits were high when The Echo visited the Institute of Technology Tallaght for the Saoirse Women's Refuge 16-hour sleep out at the end of November.

Staff and volunteers raised awareness around the number of women and children who end up sleeping in homeless hubs after fleeing their homes as a result of domestic violence.

The money raised through the sleep out also went towards a new women's refuge in South Dublin County.

If you're passing by the Belgard Road in Kilnamanagh check out this brilliant piece of Dublin Canvas artwork by Emmalene Blake, as the Tallaght artist makes the list again with her painting of Arsenal and Ireland player Katie McCabe.

Ciaran Clifford and Kenneth O'Driscoll, founder of Cherry Orchard Running Club, released this video of them training hard in October for the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon to help with their fundraising efforts for Ciaran's transport.

Just before Christmas, the team in Tallaght Fire Station wished everyone a safe and happy festive season, and issued a reminder to turn off Christmas lights, take care with candles, don't overload sockets and to never cook while drunk.

While Tallaght Fire Station's Christmas greeting was the second most popular photo on this list, the team at Tallaght were also The Echo's most liked Instragram post of 2018!

This snap, taken at a special retirement event, shows Martin Molloy (centre) lining up with his colleagues for the very last time in December following 27 years of service at the local station.

SPECIAL MENTION:

This video of Baby Amelia O'Brien from Clondalkin technically isn't from 2018, but it was posted on January 1st 2019 - and as our most watched video on our Instagram page over the last 12 months it would be a shame to leave the interview with her parents Leanne Farrell and Alan O'Brien out.

Amelia was delivered four seconds after midnight and was the first baby born in the capital and the second in the country - just one second after Baby Maeve in Drogheda.

If you haven't done so already, follow The Echo Newspaper on Instagram and tag us in your pictures or videos - who knows, you might make next year's list!

Thanks to everyone who shared images from across Tallaght, Clondalkin, Lucan and Ballyfermot with us in 2018.
