NOW that 2019 has come to an end and everyone is reflecting on the past 12 months, we took a look back at our top Instagram posts from throughout the year.

This sweet tribute to Tallaght legend Paddy Finlay, also known as ‘Paddy Drac’, was created by Dublin Fire Brigade firefighter, Geoff Tracey, on the Old Bawn Road.

In one of the best performing pictures of the year, it was a case of three-in-a-row for one Tallaght family when they not only welcomed home the Sam Maguire to Dublin but triplets Lenny, Ted and Bruce too.

A year on from when he was attacked on his way to a Champions League game against Roma in April 2018, Liverpool fan and Clondalkin native Sean Cox released this video thanking everyone for their support.

Animal lovers reached fever pitch when news broke that a new baby gorilla had been born in Dublin Zoo in April. The Echo photographer Paddy Barrett snapped this cute shot just after the baby gorilla was revealed to be a little girl.

This photo was the most liked on The Echo’s Instagram in 2019 and it captured the precious moment that terminally ill man, Pat Murphy, met his newborn nephew just hours before he passed away.

Local business owner Alan Jordan made his brother Sean’s day when he surprised him with tickets to see Dublin complete the ‘Drive for Five’.

Clondalkin teenager Glen McHugh Farrelly celebrated finishing his Leaving Certificate in the same week as Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) drug Spinraza was approved by the HSE.

Thomas Davis Under 8/9s wanted to create a moment that they would remember and got creative when they played a camogie match in their communion dresses.

Just as the college term was finishing up for the festive season, this little fluffy Robin popped by Technological University Dublin – Tallaght Campus to wave goodbye to students – including Stella Savic who shared the photo with us on Instagram.
