Costa Coffee is granted permission for extension

COSTA Coffee has been granted permission for an extension to, and the erection of Costa signs on a building on the Old Naas Road in Inchicore.

MBCC Foods Ireland Limited, trading as Costa Coffee, lodged an application for planning permission with Dublin City Council in May, seeking permission for a variety of changes to premises on the Old Naas Road.

These changes included a single-storey glazed extension to the northeast and northwest elevations of the building, with a maximum height of 3.4 metres.

It was proposed that this extension would contain a new door, while the existing door to the northwest elevation of the existing building would be replaced by a window.

Provision for the installation of two sets of individual, internally illuminated Costa letters, the fitting of a 750mm-high aluminium tray fascia in grey with a Costa Coffee roundel sign on the existing parapet wall was included in the application.

The application contained plans for additional existing signage to be rebranded, including three flagpole signs on the southeast boundary and the existing totem pole sign to the east entrance of the site.

It was proposed that the existing yard at the southeast of the site would be used as an external customer seating area.

Dublin City Council granted permission for the changes to Costa Coffee last month, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the omission of the three Costa-branded flagpoles and the stipulation that no further advertisement signs can be placed at the subject site.
