In a comment to The Echo, a spokesperson for South Dublin County Council noted that the Draft Register will not become valid until February 15, 2020 – one week after the General Election on February 8.

The current register valid for the General Election is the 2019/2020 register.

Those who submitted a Draft Registration form after November 1, 2019 will not be eligible to vote until the Draft Register comes into force on February 15.

However, South Dublin County Council is currently contacting these electors to advise them to fill in the Supplement to the Register form, which will enable them to vote on February 8.

In a comment to The Echo, the council said: “South Dublin County Council is endeavouring to contact these electors to advise them of the need to fill in the Supplement to the Register (RFA2 Inclusion in Supplement form) and submit to the council on or before closing date of Wednesday, January 22.

“The council is currently processing Supplement to the Register forms recently received and will continue to do so for forms received on or before the closing day for receipt of same, which is Wednesday, January 22."

Anyone on the register or Supplement for the Local Elections last May 24, 2019 and the Mid-West Bye Elections in November 2019, their name will be on the Supplement to the Register.

The council said that anyone who filled in a voter.ie application online to be included on the new register 2020/2021 and received a positive response will be placed on the Supplement to the Register and are registered to vote.

Those who filled in a Supplement form and got it stamped at a Garda station and submitted it to South Dublin County Council are registered to vote in the General Election and their name will be included on the Supplement to the Register for the General Election.
