A member of An Garda Siochana was forced to draw his firearm last week in Tallaght as he attempted to apprehend a man wielding a knife in the village.

Last Thursday evening at approximately 7:15pm gardai received information about a man threatening members of the public on Main Street in Tallaght Village.

Officers quickly made their way to the location and one detective was forced to draw his firearm and point it at the man before he would drop the weapon.

It was also reported that the man had chased a woman with the knife, threatening her.

The man appeared in Tallaght court last Friday morning and in today’s edition of the Echo we have the full story.
