After the tragic death of Lyra McKee at the end of April, Tallaght artist Emmalene Blake created this poignant mural of the journalist in Belfast over the May bank holiday weekend.

The most liked photo on The Echo’s Instagram from the past year is this one of Thomas Davis’ Under-8/9s, who played a camogie match in their communion dresses at Kiltipper Road.

This video was taken when firefighters from Tallaght and Dolphins Barn rushed to the scene of a truck on fire close to warehouse units in Walkinstown.

The new baby gorilla born at Dublin Zoo last month is a girl Dublin Zoo yesterday announced that the new arrival is female and that a competition to find a name has begun. by Paddy

The Echo photographer Paddy Barrett took this snap of the new baby gorilla at Dublin Zoo just after it was announced in May that the baby animal is female.


Timi Sobowale scored the equaliser for Ireland in their 1-1 draw with Belgium in the final group game of the Under-17 European Championships at Tallaght Stadium.

Children from Scoil Chronáin in Rathcoole sent this message to Health Minister Simon Harris in a show of support for their friend, Sam Bailey (9).

For nearly two years Sam, who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), and his family have been campaigning for the Government to release funding Spinraza – the first approved treatment for SMA.
