Ireland's first Olympic taekwondo athlete Jack Woolley to appear on Late Late Show

IRELAND’S first ever athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games in taekwondo, Jack Woolley, will appear on the Late Late Show tonight.

The 21-year-old Tallaght man waited with bated breath for the results from the World Taekwondo Grand Slam in China back in December, which ultimately saw his biggest rival for the automatic qualification spot, Yushai Liang, fall short.

With Liang beaten in the semi-final, Woolley and his supporters could finally celebrate having been named The Echo 2019 Sports Star of the Year just a week previous for his fantastic efforts throughout the year.

Indeed, the two-time Echo Sports Star of the Year (2016, 2019) enjoyed great success over the course of the year working his way towards qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games.

The South Dublin Taekwondo athlete made the podium at five major international competitions in 2019, a record that took him the whole way to Olympic qualification.
