SDCC commits almost €700,000 to assist businesses upgrade, develop and create jobs

SOUTH Dublin County Council has committed close to €700,000 in support towards the micro-enterprise development fund in 2018.

The fund applies to business owners seeking support to upgrade vacant premises to create jobs and develop their business.

According to SDCC’s latest corporate strategy report, they have approved four applications this year with an estimated commitment of €693,750, and a spend to date of €5,371.

The report states 320 clients have attended LEO training this year to the end of May, with a further 185 attending training provided by South Dublin Chamber, supported through the Business Support Fund.

Up to 12 Trading Online Voucher applications were approved in 2018 with a total value of €15,586.

The scheme offers small businesses the opportunity to develop their website or digital marketing strategy by availing of vouchers up to €2,500 or 50 per cent of eligible expenditure.

Close to 200 clients have availed of in-house clinics / outreach clinics/ mentor assignments to end of May 2018.

Up to five businesses were approved to the end of May for the Individual Unit Support Scheme with an estimated commitment by the council of €82,500 to fund it.

The scheme supports businesses that wish to upgrade their external, public-facing property. Through the scheme, SDCC support upgrade works such as boundary treatment, wall repair, painting, landscaping, and other works that contribute positively to the appearance of their premises.

Over €4,000 has been spent on the scheme to date.
