Two males arrested after firearm and ammunition seized

Two men have been arrested after a firearm and ammunition were seized following a search of a premises in Bluebell this morning.

The search of the premises on the Old Naas Road on Tuesday morning is part of an ongoing investigation by the Security and Intelligence section of An Garda Síochána and members from the Special Detective Unit.

According to a Garda statement released this afternoon: "During the course of the search a firearm and a quantity of ammunition was seized. 

"Two men (mid-50s and late-50s) were arrested at the scene. 

“One of the arrested men is also being questioned in relation to membership of an unlawful organisation.

“Both are currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 – Offences Against the State Act 1939.”

Investigations are currently continuing.
