Two pedestrians seriously injured in road traffic accident near Lucan

Two pedestrians have been seriously injured after they were struck by a vehicle tonight on the Newcastle Road, between Newcastle and Lucan.

The road is currently closed between Canal Bridge and the junction at the New Nangor Road, with emergency services at the scene.

Both Dublin Fire Brigade and An Garda Siochana have said drivers should take care in the area.

Local diversions have been set up, and look set to remain in place for some time.
