“I’m excited to get started and work on developing and nurturing the next group of talented players.

“Right now my brief is the Under-21 team. From Tom Mohan to Jim Crawford, Colin O'Brien, Paul Osam and Jason Donohue – there is already great work being done at underage level. I'm here to help them nurture and develop the future talent.

“It is a huge privilege to be here for the next four years and beyond. It is an honour to be appointed. I can't wait to get started” he added.

Kenny is the most successful Irish domestic manager of the modern-era leading Longford Town, Bohemians, Derry City and Dundalk to a total of 18 senior titles in 20 years of management.

He has enjoyed an amazing run with Dundalk, leading them to four Premier Division titles in five seasons including two league and cup doubles and a historic run in the UEFA Europa League group stages in 2016.

Speaking about his departure from The Lilywhites, Kenny said: “I had a great bond with everyone at Dundalk. To leave the club, the town, it had to be something special, and this is something special.”
