McGillicuddys to captain Hermitage

DENIS and Chris McGillicuddy were recently declared the 2018 Captains of Hermitage Golf Club in what is the first time in the 113-year history of the club that a husband and wife have taken up these roles in the same year.

“It’s a fabulous honour for the both of us- the first time a husband and wife have been captain of the club” said Denis who has been involved with Hermitage since the mid-80s, occupying posts like Honorary Secretary and Chair-man over the years.

His wife Chris joined the club in 2002 and both will now be captains during a very important year that will see Hermitage embark on course and clubhouse improve-ment, costing in the region of €400,000.

Indeed all the bunkers on the front nine will be redone and the clubhouse and practise area refurbished hopefully in time for the club’s annual Ladies Scratch Cup in May.

Winner of the Best Parkland Course in Leinster in three of the last five years, Hermitage Golf Club will hold its 2018 annual drive-in next Saturday.
