Team BRC medal in Dutch International

By Stephen Leonard

FIVE members of BRC Shooting Club in Tallaght recently returned home from the Dutch International 2016 with six medals.

Up against a total of 34 competitors from six other European countries in the event, the Irish knew they would have to produce exceptional performances in order to make the podium at this event.

Alan Fitzpatrick captained the team which included Coach Frank Feeney, wheelchair competitor Tommy Conroy, the vastly experienced Anthony Feeney and Keith Skinner who was lining out in his first international competition.

Fitzpatrick took gold in the ‘Small Bore Any Rifle’ class and also scooped a bronze medal in ‘Small Bore Light’ division.

Indeed it was a clean sweep for the club in the ‘Small Bore Any rifle’ class with Conroy earning silver and Frank Feeney taking the final podium spot in this field, just as he did in the ‘Small Bore Rifle’ section.

Skinner achieved a personal best in the ‘Small Bore Light’ class- an outstanding achievement given it marked his first time abroad.

Team BRC are now setting their sights on the European Championships in July 2017 in the Czech Republic and also the World Championships in Finland in July 2018.
