Customers wishing to use the post office had been availing of the service through the office in the Square.

However, arrangements have now been made to transfer all payments for those within the community who had previously been using the service, back to the Fortunestown office.

An Post confirmed the reopening to Echo.ie, and have said all previous arrangements for customers should be back to normal today.

Meanwhile, Alan Jordan, who owns the SuperValu store in the Fortunestown Shopping Centre, confirmed work is continuing to get the shop back open as soon as possible.
