Residents object to bottle bank location

A CONSULTATION is underway in relation to a proposal to relocate a bottle bank from Avonbeg Road in Tallaght to a bring bank site near the Bolbrook Enterprise Centre.

As reported in The Echo last month, the council wants to relocate the bring bank as it attracts illegal dumping in its current location.

The bottle bank on Avonbeg Road

Plans to relocate the bring bank to a greenfield site on Avonmore Road hit a snag when local residents in Avonmore objected to the bottle bank being relocated.

The residents’ concerns chiefly centred on fears that moving the bottle bank to their area would be “simply inflicting others” with illegal dumping issues, and as such the council is now considering an alternative relocation site near the Bolbrook Enterprise Centre.

The consultation relating to the Bolbrook plans is currently underway, and once the process is complete a report on the matter will be presented to the Tallaght Area Committee and a decision will then be taken on how to proceed.

It is expected that the area committee will be furnished with this report at the May meeting of the committee.
