Wok To Walk hits the spot with unique flavours

By Maurice Garvey

WOK to Walk has enjoyed a stellar first year in business at The Square – growing the business exponentially and creating quite a stir in the healthy Asian food market.

Specialising in stir-frying and wok cooking, the quick-service restaurant opened its doors in August 2014.

The Tallaght business introduced a delivery service last March to meet customer demand in Dublin 24. It also has a lunchtime business delivery service and is about to introduce an new online ordering system.

The concept for Wok to Walk was first established in Amsterdam in 2004 by food enthusiasts, eager to replicate the unique flavour found in street kitchens across Asia.

Wok to Walk now boasts over 70 quick service restaurants worldwide.

Aidan Murphy secured the franchise rights for Wok to Walk in Ireland, bringing exotic fast food flavours to The Square.

“It’s been very well received since we started up,”said Aidan, who was keen to thank the growing customer base and local businesses for their support.

Aidan attributes the menu popularity to an “awareness of healthy and tasty food that people have identified with”.

He continued: “We made a big investment into what was an empty unit in The Square.

“We employ 13 people, and cater for a wide mix of clients, including the lunchtime business crowd and the good people of Tallaght. Customers who work in emergency services are entitled to a discount.”

Aidan is very positive about the potential to grow the brand in Ireland.

“Our customer base is growing as things improve in the shopping centre,” said Aidan, who is actively looking at expanding with a city centre location.

He hasn’t ruled out another Wok to Walk in South Dublin County “if a suitable opportunity opens up.”
