Godson’s solicitor, Anna Bridgeman, said her client had a “bright future ahead of him in football”.

Godson, aged 18, with an address at Sundale Grove, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to having no insurance and no NCT at Fortunestown Lane in Tallaght, on December 31, 2018.

Garda Damien Rutter told Judge Jones that he stopped Godson in a car on Fortunestown Lane on December 31, 2018.

He said the NCT was out and he asked Godson to produce his insurance certificate and NCT at a garda station of his choice within 10 days.

Garda Rutter told Judge Jones that the defendant chose Tallaght Garda Station but failed to produce the documents.

Ms Bridgeman said her client was “an erudite young man”. She said he had just “finished college with the FAI”. She said Godson has “a bright future ahead of him in football”.

Ms Bridgeman added that her client’s mother was in court.

She asked Judge Jones not to impose a driving ban.

Convicting, Judge Jones fined Godson €500 for having no insurance and €100 for no NCT.
