A VIRTUAL work experience programme helped Ballyfermot students experience the ‘future of the working world’.

Due to Covid restrictions, TY students at St Dominic’s College participated in the virtual programme, which was hosted by Salesforce.

Over the week, students experienced what it is like to work in a global technology company like Salesforce, interacting with people in different parts of the business, from marketing to engineering.

Sr Liz Smyth OP, Acting Deputy Principal at St Dominic’s, said: “We are excited that our students are experiencing this reality as they are our future global technological generation. Working in teams, they had the opportunity to develop their understanding of the UN Sustainability Goals and what action is being taken around them.

“They then identified the SDG they care about most as a team, before creating ideas and suggestions for how individuals in your community can have an impact. Finally, they prepared and delivered a five minute presentation to an authentic audience to educate, inspire and enable them to take action on the SDGs.”

“A very big thank you to the Salesforce team who masterminded this project - Alastair Higginbottom, Colm McNamee and Ross McCarthy. Their vision, innovation, expertise and professionalism made it possible for our students to complete their TY work experience.

“A big thank you to our students. They grasped this opportunity and gave it 200 per cent. Salesforce and the Dominican team set high expectations and goals for our girls and each and every one of them have excelled. Thanks to all parents and guardians for supporting your daughter and supporting us.”
