Former CEO of Topaz plans apartment development in Monastery Road Clondalkin

FORMER chief executive of Topaz Emmet O’Neill, has plans to enter the residential market with an apartment development in Clondalkin.

O’Neill, who is the nephew of tycoon Denis O’Brien, is seeking permission to build 22 two-bedroom apartments on a site at Monastery Road.

The young entrepreneur owned a 10 per cent stake in Topaz when it was bought by Canadian group Couche-Tard in 2015, and founded and sold the Smiles dental business in 2014.

O’Neill’s real estate company Kouchin Holdings, plan to demolish a vacant shop and forecourt canopy on Monastery Road, and build a three-storey block with car parking and landscaped gardens.

Last year, O’Neill acquired a 10 per cent stake in the Quinta do Lago resort in Portugal and the PGA Catalunya golf resort in Spain, which are owned by O’Brien.

He has invested in a number of other businesses, including online publisher Lovin Group and Hazelwood Demense in Sligo, where there are plans for a whiskey distillery and visitor centre.
