Virtual music festival is a roaring success

THE virtual music festival over at Liffey Sound 96.4 FM was a roaring success – pulling in thousands of views, over 30 musical acts and raising money for charity in the process.

Covid-19 laid waste to the Lucan station’s annual charity fundraising efforts, so this festival was created to try and fill that gap and provide a platform for local artistic talent.

Taking place on Friday, August 28, from 6pm to midnight, the event featured an array of musical talent, but the engagement with many young listeners throughout was “heartwarming” for the station.

Mairéad Cullen, Station Manager, Liffey Sound 96.4 FM said: “Thank you so much to all the acts that submitted videos for our online virtual fundraiser concert. Over 30 local and national acts submitted performances which included all genres of music.

Local artists included The Gospel Choir, The Sea of Change Choir, Jane Hackett and a brand new song from Mal Touhy of The Riptide Movement. National artists included Brian Kennedy and The Pale's Matthew Devereux.

“Over 5,000 people viewed the stream and the positivity of their comments was heartwarming. So far, we have raised €1,495 and we are very thankful to everyone that donated. All the performances on the night are still available to view on our Facebook page and if you like what you see, you can still donate by clicking the link on our website www.liffeysound fm.ie.”
