1,291 private homes were constructed in county in 2018

NEARLY 1,300 private homes were built in the County in 2018, reports Brendan Grehan.

At last week’s monthly meeting of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Teresa Costello put down a question asking “how many new homes have been constructed by private developers since 2014 and how many Part V homes have been transferred to the Council by location since 2014.”

The Council replied that there were 709 private residential units completed in 2016, 1,133 in 2017 and 1,291 in 2018.

The Council then broke down by Local electoral area the number of Part V homes transferred to them since 2014.

In 2014, there were two in Clondalkin, none in Lucan, Rathfarnham, Tallaght Central, Tallaght South and Templeogue/Terenure.

In 2015, there were none in Clondalkin, Lucan, Rathfarnham, Tallaght South and Templeogue/Terenure and one in Tallaght Central.

In 2016, there were four Part V homes in Clondalkin, 25 in Lucan, and none in Rathfarnham, Tallaght Central, Tallaght South and Templeogue/Terenure.

In 2017, there were 19 in Clondalkin, two in Lucan, six in Rathfarnham, 22 in Tallaght Central, two in Tallaght South, and none in Templeogue/Terenure.

In 2018, there were nine in Clondalkin, 62 in Lucan, 14 in Rathfarnham, seven in Tallaght Central, 47 in Tallaght South and seven in Templeogue/Terenure.

In 2019, there have been two Part V homes in Clondalkin, 10 in Lucan, none in Rathfarnham and Tallaght Central, one in Tallaght South and six in Templeogue/Terenure.

The Council stated that “in accordance with the legislation” they continue “to proactively engage with developers to achieve prompt delivery of homes in residential developments where the Part V requirement of 10 per cent applies.”
