Plans for May and June have been confirrmed by Government

May 10 will also see the reopening of hairdressers, libraries, museums, galleries, and team sport training will resume.

Up to 50 people will be allowed attend religious services including weddings, funerals and masses but indoor wedding parties will remain capped at six guests and 15 for outdoor celebrations.

Also on May 10, three households (or six people) can meet outdoors including in private gardens and a vaccinated household can meet an unvaccinated household indoors to allow extended families to meet.

All shops will be able to reopen on May 17, and on June 2, hotels and guesthouses will open again.

Outdoor hospitality, including restaurants and all pubs, will open on June 7, along with gyms and swimming pools.

While matches will resume on this date, it will be later in the summer before even small numbers of fans are allowed attend.

The Cabinet has also approved allowing essential workers to secure driving lessons from May 10 to help clear the driving test backlog.

The return of lessons for all learner drivers is likely to happen at a later date, when the vaccination programme is further advanced.

Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said the easing of restrictions will be a "big step in the right direction" but warned that easing restrictions in June is very much contingent on a successful May.
