A TEENAGER (17) has pleaded guilty to making off without paying for €29 worth of petrol and having no driving licence and insurance.

He was accompanied in Tallaght District Court by his mother.

Tallaght Court June 2016

The teenager, who has an address in Tallaght, is charged with making off without paying for €29 worth of petrol at a service station in Tallaght and having no insurance and no driving licence all on December 21, 2016.

The teenager’s solicitor, Michael Hennessy, told Judge Patricia McNamara that his client was pleading guilty.

Sergeant Eithne Madden told the court that at 1pm on the above date, the teenager had driven to a service station in Tallaght in a Nissan Micra.

She said the registration plates were disguised and the teenager had filled up with €29 worth of petrol and left without paying for it.

Sgt Madden said the teenager was later identified from CCTV footage from the service station and he was also prosecuted for having no insurance and driving licence.

She said the teenager had four previous convictions. At Tallaght Court on May 20 last, he had received a two-year ban for no insurance.

Mr Hennessy said the teenager was working well with the Probation Service.

Judge McNamara told the teenager: “I want you to continue to engage with the Probation Service and to stay out of trouble. I am going to give you a chance to prove yourself.”

She adjourned the case for a month for a probation report.
