Assumption multimedia teacher Grainne Cullen, said: “We were delighted when Assumption Secondary School was announced as the national winners of the CAW multimedia competition.”

In February, three of the second years took part in the DUGWA's public speaking competition in Trinity College and won.

As a result of that, students Charley Ashe, Athina Oritz and Sandra Saju then took part in the final of the Irish Federation of University womens’ public speaking competition in Trinity College in March.

Ms Cullen continued: “The girls not only represented the Assumption Secondary School, they also represented Trinity College Dublin. They competed against competitors representing UCD, NUI Galway and Queens University Belfast.

“The three girls delivered three excellent speeches, which captured the attention of the audience in the Synge theatre. They spoke clearly, confidently and proudly. The girls were awarded second place in this national competition. We are delighted and proud to have been awarded the Ann Budd Memorial prize.”

Ms Cullen and Ms Conneely (public speaking) supported the girls throughout the competitions.
