Echo Letters: Councillor did not speak during housing debate
A Chara,
Having read the coverage of Dublin City Council’s budget debate in the Ballyfermot Echo (November 24), I really need to clarify a number of points.
Despite the quotes in the article from Fianna Fáil’s Daithí de Róiste, it must be said, Cllr de Róiste never once spoke or engaged in any debate on the budget.
He never voiced any concerns at all. In fact he was absent for much of the debate on housing.
Furthermore, Fianna Fáil never attended any of the budget committee meetings.
If a councillor had serious concerns about the budget this would have been the place to air to them.
Councillors were elected to work together to provide solutions to the challenges that face Dublin City. To simply snipe from the sidelines is an insult to the public.
Sinn Féin’s track record is second to none in representation. I am not just about headline and press statements. I will continue to work hard and represent people at council meetings, at public meetings and in campaigns for better housing.
Is mise,
Cllr Daithí Doolan
Ballyfermot/Drimnagh.
