Man and woman fatally injured after road traffic collision

GARDAI in Tallaght are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the early hours of this morning at Butterfield Avenue in Rathfarnham.

According to a Garda statement issued, a single vehicle collision occurred when a car left the road and collided with a lamp post at around 1.30am this morning, Tuesday, December 17.

One man and woman (ages unknown) were fatally injured and their bodies have been removed to Tallaght University Hospital.

According to the Garda statement issued: “A post mortem will take place later today.

“GSOC were informed of this road traffic collision and are conducting an examination.

“The Garda Forensic Collision Investigation Unit have conducted their examination of the scene and the road has reopened.”

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who travelled the road at the time of the collision, and who may have dash cam footage, to contact Gardai in Tallaght on 6666000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
