Man arrested following robbery at Old Bawn Shopping Centre

GARDAI responded to reports of a robbery at the Old Bawn Shopping Centre at around 8.30pm yesterday, April 2.

According to a Garda statement released today, a man in his late thirties was arrested during a follow-up operation.

A Garda spokesperson said: “It’s reported a male armed with what’s believed to be a knife entered a supermarket and threatened staff before taking a sum of cash and fleeing the scene.

“During a follow-up operation on the Kiltipper Road, a man in his late 30s was arrested and is currently being detained at Rathfarnham Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

 “All of the cash taken during the robbery was recovered by Gardai.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
