Seventh anniversary of missing Esra Uryun

By Maurice Garvey

INCREASED hotel prices during an international rugby weekend are an unwelcome sight for any visitors, particularly if you are travelling to a foreign city to look for a missing sister.

Berna Fidan, from London, has been to Dublin close to 30 times now, ever since her sister Esra Uryun disappeared into thin air in Clondalkin seven years ago.

Esra (38) left her Collinstown home at 7.20am on February 23, 2011, to get milk for husband Osgar and son Emin, but was never seen again.

Despite hotel rooms almost doubling in price ahead of the Ireland versus Wales 6 Nations fixture, Berna has vowed to “never give up” finding out what happened to her little sister.

“We just need one decent person with true information to come forward,” pleaded Berna.

“It has taken a toll on the family. My poor mother has been unwell, and our brother had a heart attack recently, due to the stress, and is still recovering.”

This morning, gardai at Ronanstown renewed their appeal on the seventh anniversary of Esra’s disappearance.

Esra was last seen in the family car - a Grey Renault Twingo, registration number 08-D-23067 - at approximately 7.15am, on the morning of February 23, 2011.

The car was found later that day on the promenade in Bray - her handbag found in the boot.

Berna is appealing for a motorist, seen passing the Twingo near Bray promenade that morning to come forward.

“It was a silver Skoda Octavia – maybe it has since been sold, but if anyone knows someone who was driving a car like that at that time, and whom may have been in the area, please contact the anonymous missing persons or garda phone line,” said Berna.
