Stagecraft Musical Group: A Night At the Musicals at Civic Theatre

Stagecraft Musical Group was set up in 2017 as a summer musical project by South Dublin County Partnership, in conjunction with Crosscare Youth Service Clondalkin, and supported by Lucan and Clondalkin Credit Union.

The aim was to offer young people aged 14-18 in South Dublin free, high quality training in singing, dancing and acting.

What began as a small local project grew and grew. Over 50 young people travelled from all over the county to take part in twice weekly workshops and rehearsals for the summer months.

Many focused on performance, but others painted sets, designed costumes and even designed the promotional materials. The project culminated in a two night sold out performance of the musical Back to the 80’s in Coláiste Chilliain, Clondalkin.

The summer project finished, but the group wanted to keep going and develop the group further, Stagecraft Musical Group was born.

The group decided to take on not one, but four mini-musicals, offering a broad range of roles and giving everyone a chance to be part of the production. They will perform shortened versions of Matilda, Sister Act, Aladdin and High School Musical.

This time, they are very excited to perform in the Civic Theatre in Tallaght on June 30 and July 1.

For the summer musical project this year, the group plan to take on the 90’s musical Popstars! with hits from the hyper-coloured 1990's by artists such as The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys,  N*SYNC, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, MC Hammer and many more.

Stagecraft musical group is recruiting new members for their summer show.
