Tallaght, Clondalkin and Rathfarnham venues to open their doors for Culture Night

LOCAL venues in Tallaght, Clondalkin and Rathfarnham are tonight, September 16, opening their doors for Culture Night.

South Dublin County boasts an impressive cultural landscape, with the arts easily accessible to communities and local culture vultures.

Tonight members of the community are encouraged to enjoy that cultural landscape and a host of free events, which will, alongside offering entertainment, provide people with an opportunity to experience a local venue they may not have visited before.

The evening also showcases the vibrant and talented culture scene alive across local communities.

Free events are happening across venues including Rathfarnham Castle,  Pearse Museum, County Library, Tallaght, the Civic Theatre, Rua Red, Ballyroan Library, Dublin Arts Centre, Áras Chrónáin Ionad and Tallaght Youth Theatre.

A taster of some of the events include, a walk through time in Rathfarnham Castle with historical tours, storytelling sessions in Ballyroan Library, a short presentation of some of Shakespeare’s best monologues in the County Library, Tallaght, a unique screen of The Bloody Irish in the Civic Theatre, fun workshops in Rua Red county arts centre, Tallaght, Irish film and set dancing in Aras Chronain, Clondalkin and free tours of Pearse Museum in Rathfarnham.

Tallaght Young Filmmakers will also premiere their short film, The Offer, in Rua Red at 5pm while Tallaght Youth Theatre will also present short Irish drama pieces celebrating the last 100 years in literature.

South Dublin County is one of 30 towns, cities and counties taken part in Culture Night, which is a countrywide night to explore, experience and enjoy culture in all its forms.
