UPDATE: Dublin water restrictions from 8pm to 6am

Water restrictions are now likely to last a number of days in the greater Dublin area but Irish Water is hoping to do so now from 8pm to 6am and will keep under review.

Even though some improvement was made on Monday evening, Irish Water, working with the four Local Authorities, said there is still a way to go.

As reported by The Echo, a number of areas were without running water from 7pm yesterday evening (Monday) to around 9am this morning, including Crumlin, Kimmage, and parts of Lucan, Terenure, Templeogue, Rathfarnham, Harold’s Cross and Rathmines.

According to Irish Water, the restrictions are "essential to allow our reservoirs to refill as repairs to bursts and leaks are underway."

The company added: "We are aware that some people were without water entirely and reviewed this situation with water engineers across the Dublin Councils today to see how we can minimise this impact.

"We are leveraging the best expertise across Irish Water and the four Dublin Councils to move water around the network and protect supply while protecting hospitals on the network."

After taking feedback from customers, Irish Water is now undertaking a programme of water pressure management in Dublin from 8pm this evening to 6am tomorrow morning.

"Taking feedback from customers it is hoped that this will allow the network to fill fully again earlier in the morning to allow for morning showers", the company said.

Irish Water has recommended to store enough fresh water before 8pm, to check your water tank storage and ensure all taps are turned off.

During the water restriction, it said not to drink water from hot water or bathroom taps, not to drink collected water and to try conserve the water in your storage tank.
