Warning issued after strong winds take trees down in Tallaght and Clondalkin

By Mary Dennehy

SOUTH Dublin County Council has reminded road users to exercise caution during strong winds, after crews responded to fallen trees in Clondalkin and Tallaght this morning, February 23.

After the county was hit with strong winds and heavy rains last night, council crews this morning responded to reports of a tree down on Ninth Lock Road in Clondalkin and Kiltipper Road in Tallaght.

In a comment to The Echo, a spokesperson for the council issued this advice to road users –

As with all severe weather events, only essential journeys should be considered.

Use common sense and expect the unexpected.

Listen to, and heed, national and local media announcements regarding road and weather conditions.

Watch out for falling/fallen debris on the road and vehicles veering across the road and the reaction of other road users.

Notify the Gardaí or Local Authority about fallen debris on the roadway. NEVER stop on a motorway to remove debris.
