October Team of the Month Team of the Month - Peamount United Women's Team

FOLLOWING a superb season, Peamount United senior ladies team have been declared The Echo Team of the Month for October.

The Newcastle side got their hands on the Só Hotel’s Women’s National League title following an epic campaign that ended with an 8-1 thrashing of Cork City in Greenogue.

It put them just two points out of reach of Shelbourne who had pushed them all the way and inflicted on them their only defeat of the campaign.

Delighted at seeing his side make it over the line, manager James O’Callaghan said “It’s been a long tough season.

We’d lost only once and drawn twice and still it came down to the final match, so it was great to see the girls get over the line.”

The team, which has subsequently qualified for next year’s Women’s Champions League, also made the final of the WFAI Cup for the second year running.
