A safe and happy Christmas wish from your local firemen

The staff at Tallaght and Dolphin’s Barn Fire stations would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.

Every year 36 people die on average in fires in Ireland. This Christmas we have a few safety tips to keep safe.

  • Smoke in bed
  • Overload electrical sockets
  • Leave the kitchen if a frying pan or deep fat fryer is being used
  • Going out ? Lights out. Always unplug the extra Christmas lights
  • Take care with candles, naked flames are a major source of ignition
  • If you’re out socialising consider getting a take away on the way home. Drunk cooking is a significant cause of fire
  • Get your chimney cleaned
  • Buy batteries for toys….that way you wont’s be tempted to take them from your smoke alarms
  • Electric blankets & hot water bottles don’t mix.
